How the AI works
Optional help that reads your actual story, on your own key.
AI in PullAtlas is a tool you reach for, never something that writes over your shoulder. Every AI feature is something you trigger; when you don’t, the workspace is quiet.
On your key
Every AI feature runs on a key you bring Free: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or OpenRouter. It works on every plan, including Free, and you pay your provider directly at their rates, usually pennies for a writing session; Gemini has a generous free tier. PullAtlas adds no meter and no markup. See Using your own key.
Grounded in your story
The point of the AI is that it knows your book. When you ask for help, PullAtlas gives the model the relevant parts of your Atlas and the surrounding prose, so a drafted scene uses your character’s real voice and your world’s real rules rather than inventing them. On paid plans this goes further with semantic recall, which finds the passages across your manuscript that actually relate to what you are writing, not just the ones nearby.
Your words stay yours
PullAtlas is private by default and never uses your manuscript to train models. The AI models run on your own provider account, under that provider’s terms; on paid plans, semantic recall uses our embeddings service to find the passages that relate.
