Find & replace
Search one chapter, or change a word everywhere it appears. Free
Find & replace is available on every plan, including Free. It works at two scopes: the chapter you are in, and the entire manuscript.
Finding text
Press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on a Mac) to open the find bar in the current chapter. Step through matches with next and previous; the editor scrolls each hit into view so you never lose the thread.
Replacing in a chapter
The same bar replaces text: swap a single match, or every match in the chapter at once. Useful for a typo you made all afternoon, or a phrase you have decided to retire.
Across the whole manuscript
Choose All chapters and the replacement runs across the entire book, not just the page in front of you. This is the fast way to fix a spelling you used inconsistently, or update a term that appears in dozens of chapters.
Done safely
A manuscript-wide replace shows you what it will change and asks you to confirm before anything happens, and it takes a snapshot first. If a bulk change wasn’t what you wanted, you can get the previous version back.
